ranch for boysWhile not in Vermont, The Ranch for Boys, on the Gold Coast of Florida, is a boys ranch created for at-risk boys.

The Ranch for Boys serves 50 teenage boys at our residential boarding school and ranch located on a 30-acre ranch. With the use of the certified equine therapy and a variety of sports and outdoor recreation, boys begin to develop character, integrity, and respect. We give boys ownership in work projects and special events on campus to keep them engaged in what is their home away from home.

The Ranch for Boys shows boys the the right road in life through example, lessons, counsel, mentoring and team exercises. Also, by eliminating distractions and detaching from troublesome situations, it helps to open the door to break destructive patterns of behavior.

Counseling at The Ranch for Boys takes place frequently during the day, in all settings, through conversations with mentors during work or recreation. We put a strong emphasis on mentorship, providing the boys with positive male role models during their time with us.

A Better Option than Boys Ranches in Vermont

comparison to military schoolsIn our program, boys remain physically and mentally active and challenged throughout their stay. Our recreational and sports facilities include a well-equipped gym and a professional array of weight machines, soccer field, baseball diamond, basketball court, pool, game room, fishing ponds, and horses. We often go fishing on the Florida waterways and out in the ocean. The summit of the program is a spectacular wilderness experience in the mountains of North Carolina during the last month of the boys’ stay. Whitewater rafting, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, camping, and other adventures demonstrate that life can be at the same time adventuresome and positive.

Our on-campus academy is in session year-round to give students the opportunity to take care of missed credits. We have on-campus teachers who facilitate the boy’s education and tutor individual boys. Boys from Vermont quickly catch up on missed coursework or work ahead.

More about boys ranches in Vermont:
Vermont IPAc-en is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States of America. Vermont is the 6th least extensive and the 2nd least populous of the 50 United States. It is the only New England state not bordering the Atlantic Ocean. Lake Champlain forms half of Vermont’s western border, which it shares with the state of New York. The Green Mountains are within the state. It is bordered by Massachusetts to the south, New Hampshire to the east, New York to the west, and the Canadian province of Quebec to the north.
Originally inhabited by two major Native American tribes , much of the territory that is now Vermont was claimed by France in the early colonial period. France ceded the territory to the Kingdom of Great Britain after being defeated in 1763 in the Seven Years’ War (also called the French and Indian War). For many years, the nearby colonies, especially New Hampshire and New York, disputed control of the area (then called the New Hampshire Grants). Settlers who held land titles granted by these colonies were opposed by the Green Mountain Boys militia, which eventually prevailed in creating an independent state, the Vermont Republic. Founded in 1777, during the Revolutionary War, it lasted for fourteen years. Vermont is one of 17 U.S. states (along with Texas, Hawaii, the brief California Republic, and each of the original 13 Colonies) that each once had a sovereign government. In 1791, Vermont joined the United States as the 14th state, the first outside the original 13 Colonies. It abolished slavery while independent and upon joining the Union became the first state to have done so.
Vermont is the leading producer of maple syrup in the United States. The state capital is Montpelier, which with 7,855 people is the least-populated state capital in the country. Its most populous city is Burlington, which as of 2010 had a population of 42,417. The greater Burlington metropolitan area had a population of 211,261.
